Foxconn Vedanta Deal: The plan of India to establish semiconductor manufacturing is close to completion. Following the termination of the agreement with Vedanta, Taiwanese firm Foxconn is in discussions with a new partner to establish a chip facility in the country. According to media sources, Foxconn Technology Group is discussing the establishment of a semiconductor facility in India with ST Microelectronics NV.
ST Micro is a French-Italian corporation, and both Foxconn and ST Micro seek to help the Indian government put up a 40-nanometer chip manufacturing. These chips are found in automobiles, cameras, printers, and other devices. Foxconn has previously attempted to establish a semiconductor facility with billionaire Anil Agarwal’s Vedanta Resources. This collaboration, however, ended after a year. Foxconn manufactures several products for Apple, including iPhone components. Previously, the company’s manufacturing was in China, but it is now also in India.
