Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Rome to take part in 16th G20 Summit. He will be discussing global economic and health recovery from COVID-19 Pandemic. PM Landed at Leonardo Da Vinci airport in Rome.

PM will be present in Rome and Vatican City from October 29-31 at the invitation of Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi, after which he will be heading towards Glasgow, United Kingdom from November 1-2 on the invitation of British PM Boris Johnson.
In his departure statement, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “In Rome, I will attend the 16th G20 Leaders' Summit, where I will join other G20 leaders in discussions on global economic and health recovery from the pandemic, sustainable development, and climate change.” This will be the first in-person G20 summit since the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic. He also informed that in Glasgow, he will be discussing the need to address climate change issues and equitable distribution of carbon space.
Prime Minister will also visit Vatican city and will meet Pope Franics there. He said, “During my visit to Italy, I will also visit the Vatican City, to call on His Holiness Pope Francis and meet Secretary of State, His Eminence Cardinal Pietro Parolin.”
Prime Minister will also be meeting leaders of other partner countries and will be reviewing the progress in bilateral relations with them. Following the end of G20 summit on October 31, PM Modi will be moving to Glasgow where he will be attending the 26th Conference of Parties(COP-26) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
PM said before leaving for Rome, “I will be participating in the high-level segment of COP-26 titled World Leaders' Summit' (WLS) on 1-2 November, 2021, along with 120 Heads of States/Governments from around the world.”
Prime Minister’s visit to Rome will be the first by an Indian Prime Minister in 12 years and his own first visit after assuming office. “PM Narendra Modi's visit to Rome will be his first visit to the Italian capital after assuming office. It'll also be the first visit by an Indian PM to Rome in almost 12 years,” said India’s ambassador to Italy Neena Malhotra
