G-7 Summit 2025: Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has invited Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the G-7 summit. The G-7 summit will be held in Alberta, Canada, from June 15 to 17. Carney explained the reason for the invitation, citing India’s economic strength and growing significance in the world arena. He said, “India is the fifth largest economy in the world and the most populous country. Given India’s central role in the global supply chain, it is extremely important to include it in the G-7 discussions.”

India-Canada Relations

However, relations between India and Canada have deteriorated in recent years, particularly with the death of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Canada. When asked about the situation, Carney answered cautiously, indicating that the legal procedure was ongoing and that it would be inappropriate to comment on it. However, he stated that both countries had agreed to continue negotiations on law enforcement and security matters, calling this a constructive step towards mutual collaboration.
