World Chess Championship 2024: Grandmaster Gukesh Dommaraju has written history to become the youngest world champion at the age of 18 at the World Chess Championship 2024 by defeating China’s Ding Liren.
He is the only teenager to win the title in his ten years, the record was previously held by Garry Kasparov, achieved at the age of 22 years. Writing history is not new to Gukesh, who has been determined to be the world champion since he was 11 years old. He has been playing chess from the tender age of 7, with the sole goal of writing history as a world chess champion.

D. Gukesh, is the youngest World Chess Champion hailing from Chennai, India. He was born on 29 May 2006 in a Telugu family his father Dr. Rajnikanth works as an ear, nose, and throat surgeon and his mother is a microbiologist. His education is credited to Velammal Vidyalaya School in Chennai.
A chess prodigy from India, Gukesh holds several titles among them the highest include the third-youngest grandmaster in history; tthe hird-youngest to reach a chess rating of 2700, the youngest to reach a rating of 2750; the youngest Candidates Tournament winner of two individual gold medals and a bronze at the Olympiad and a silver medal at the Asian games. He was the Asian U12 Champion (2015) and won the World Youth Chess Championships in the U12 (2018) and U14 (2020).
