This a look at his journey from an aspiring cricketer to becoming one of the most influential figures in global cricket.
Jay Amit Shah is the son of India’s current Union Minister, Amit Shah and Sonal Shah. Born on 22 September 1988, he married Hrishita Patel in February 2015, and has two lovely daughters with her.
He is the newly appointed, and youngest chairman of the ICC in the history of if that too nominated unopposed as his predecessor Greg Braclay decided to leave the chair paving way for Shah to take his first steps into the global cricket administration.
Reports suggest that Shah aspired to be a cricketer as a teen, and also enrolled in professional cricket training. He graduated from the Nirma University in Ahmedabad with a Bachelor’s degree in Technology.
Shah’s official association with cricket administration started in 2009 with the Central Board of Cricket, Ahmedabad, serving as the executive board member. In September 2013, he became the joint secretary of Gujarat Cricket Association. Under his tenure he oversaw the construction of the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, the largest cricket stadium in the world.

During 2015, he became a member of the finance and marketing committees of the Board of Control for Cricket in India, followed by his election as the youngest secretary of BCCI in October 2019.
Under his tenure, he achieved the historic Indian Premier League (IPL) media rights deal selling the 5 years rights of the league for Rs 48,390 crore, making the IPL the 2nd most valued sporting league in the world after National Football League.
BCCI selected him as the representative for future CEC meetings of ICC in 2019, followed by his appointment as ICC Board Member Representative in April 2022, head of ICC’s all powerful Finance and Commerce Affairs Committee in November 2022
Shah played a critical role in taking cricket to the global stage by sealing its participation in 2028 Olympics.
