Maha Kumbh 2025: We have often heard the words sages and saints used interchangeably. During the holy dip at the Triveni Sangam, ‘Sadhu-Sant’ i.e, sages and saints have made many headlines but no one knows how one of them differs from the other. Difference between sages and saints 

Sages in simple definition are those spiritual beings who live a life away from material pleasure meditating and performing yoga for the purity of their mind, body, or soul. They live simple lives trying to control their inner desires and negative emotions ranging from anger to lust. Sages however remain a part of the social life slowly observing everything.

Saints on the other hand renounce social life to attain enlightenment through the means of knowledge. Their objective in life is to show the right path to society with their truth, thoughts, and actions. They lead the path of righteousness for others. 

So now you know how sages and saints, though both spiritual, are different from each other and follow completely different paths of spirituality.
