Meta's Threads Loses More Than Half of Its Users, Zuckerberg Talks About App's Future

Threads, a brand-new text-based social media platform from Meta, generated a lot of talk when it first launched. We learned about Meta's plans to establish a Twitter alternative earlier this month, and on July 5 we all learned about Threads. People flocked to Threads in large numbers after Elon Musk's Twitter implemented a rate limit and other adjustments, and the app received 100 million sign-ups in just five days after going live. One of the social networking platforms with the quickest growth is reportedly Threads. Less than half of users have actively used Threads since joining up, according to recent studies.

Zuckerberg talks about retention

Although not ideal, user retention on the text-based software was better than executives had anticipated. Speaking at an internal business town hall, Zuckerberg said: "Of course, it would be wonderful if all or even half of the 100 million people who have signed up stayed here. We have not yet arrived. According to Zuckerberg, the drop-off is expected and retention will rise as the business continues to provide the app with more capabilities, such as a desktop version and a search engine.

Future of Threads App

Earlier, according to a Business Insider article, Zuckerberg had stated that the team still has a lot of "basic work" to do on Threads, including "building and experimenting with features that users like," during the second-quarter earnings conference call with investors. The CEO of Meta added that even though many users may enjoy a particular experience, the Meta team must keep improving it if consumers are to continue using the platform and believe that Meta is "getting to a good place with Threads."
