Mrs. on OTT:  Sanya Malhotra’s Mrs. is the Hindi remake of the 2021 Malayalam film ‘The Great Indian Kitchen’ starring Nimisha Sajayan. Mrs. OTT Release Date

Mrs. has won Sanya Malhotra, the Best Actress award at the New York Indian Film Festival. The film has been around the world at several film festivals with its premiere at the 2023 Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival before making its final release on global digital platforms. Mrs is set to stream on Zee5 from 7 February. 

Mrs. Plot 

The film revolves around Richa, a young ambitious woman with big dreams of performing on the stage. Making a stop in her journey as a dancer for her wedding, Malhotra’s eyes swelled with the hopes of getting back to her passion. Little did she know that the life of a homemaker is a web difficult to untangle. As she starts to go about her life as the daughter-in-law of the house, her hard work is ignored and unvalued as she is expected to perform these household chores as a woman in Indian society. 

The slowly fading dreams, and frustration of doing unpaid labor results in strain on the relationship of Richa with her husband, and other family members as well. But what she will do about her situation is left to the climax of the film.

The film narrates a tale about the burdens of societal expectations a woman has to bear in a patriarchal society where her dreams and hopes are not a priority for her husband or family.

Sanya Malhotra has brilliantly performed the role of Richa, with Kanwaljit Singh and Nishant Dahiya in key roles. Directed by Aarti Kadav, Mrs. is bankrolled by Harman Baweja. Pammi Baweja, Smitha Baliga, and Jyoti Deshpande under the banner of  Baweja Studios and Jio Studios.
