Born on 25 February 1992, Sanya hails from Delhi, India. She completed her graduation from Gargi College of Delhi University.  Sanya has always been attracted to dance and is a trained dancer in contemporary and ballet.  She also participated in dance reality show Dance India Dance and made it to the top 100.

After graduation she decided to move to Mumbai and started giving auditions. She started her career by assisting camerapersons for television commercials and got her big break for Dangal as she got  contacted by the film casting director Mukesh Chhabra.
