He graduated as a chemical technician before deciding to pursue a priesthood at the Diocesan Seminary of Villa Devoto. On March 11, 1958, he joined the Society of Jesus. He went on to complete his humanities studies in Chile. He returned to Argentina in 1963 and earned a philosophy degree from the Colegio de San José in San Miguel.
