President Election 2022: Yashwant Sinha Resigned From TMC Amidst Claiming For President's Post

Former Union minister Yashwant Sinha made a tweet on Tuesday morning that may fuel speculation that he will be considered as the opposition's candidate for the presidential election. He said, 'I am grateful to Mamta ji for the respect and prestige she has given me in TMC. Now a time has come when I have to work for greater opposition unity outside the party for a larger national cause. I am sure she will accept the move."

Yashwant Sinha resigns

Trinamool Congress leader Yashwant Sinha on Tuesday announced his decision to quit the party, saying he would now work for the broader national objective of greater opposition unity. There has been speculation for several days that Trinamool Congress chief and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will name former Union minister Yashwant Sinha as the joint opposition candidate in the upcoming presidential election.

Yashwant Sinha said that he does not want to go ahead with his tweet. However, sources have suggested that he is likely to be declared as the opposition's choice. Yashwant Sinha, who has served as the Finance and External Affairs Minister of India, has been the Vice President of the Trinamool Congress. He left BJP in 2018.

Meeting called again for the nominations

A meeting has been called today from both the ruling party and the opposition. Political excitement has also intensified regarding the presidential election. Along with the opposition, now the ruling party has also intensified its exercise. BJP has called a parliamentary party meeting this evening. This meeting has been named as the Manthan meeting. According to sources, PM Modi can also attend this meeting.

BJP President Jagat Prakash Nadda had discussed the election strategy with the party's 14-member management team on Sunday in view of the Presidential election to be held on July 18. The BJP had authorized party president JP Nadda and Union minister Rajnath Singh to consult with other political parties, including the opposition, to arrive at a consensus on the presidential candidate.
