PV Sindhu Biography: India's top female badminton player PV Sindhu clinched her second women's singles title of the current season by defeating Thailand's Busanan Ongbamrangphan in the final of the Swiss Open Super 300 tournament on Sunday. However, HS Prannoy suffered a defeat in the men's singles final. PM Narendra Modi congratulated PV Sindhu for this achievement.
Playing her second successive final in the tournament, two-time Olympic medalist Sindhu defeated the fourth seeded 21-16, 21-8 in a 49-minute match at St. Jacobshalle. This is Sindhu's 16th win in 17 matches against Busanan. She has lost to him only once at the 2019 Hong Kong Open. Prannoy, however, could not overcome the challenge from Indonesia's Jonathan Christie. Prannoy went down 12-21, 18-21 to the fourth seed in a match that lasted 48 minutes.
PV Sindh won the bronze medal by defeating Hee Bingjiao. PV Sindhu has become the first woman athlete in Indian history to have won two individual Olympics. Earlier, PV Sindhu had won a silver medal in the Rio Olympics.

Who is PV Sindhu?
Born on 5 July 1995, Pusarla Venkata Sindhu, popularly known as PV Sindhu, is a prolific Indian female badminton player and the first Indian to win a silver medal in women's singles badminton at the Olympic Games. Earlier she has also been the national champion of India. Sindhu won the China Open title in November 2016.

PV Sindhu Achievements:
Olympic silver medalist PV Sindhu clinched the title for the first time by registering a resounding victory in the finals of the BWF World Badminton Championships. She is the first Indian shuttler to win the World Championship. In the final, she defeated Nozomi Okuhara of Japan 21-7, 21-7. She defeated Chen Yufei of China 21-7, 21-14 in the semi-final match held on 24 August 2019. Sindhu ended the opposition Chinese challenge in straight sets within 39 minutes.

PV Sindhu Early Life and training:
PV Sindhu took birth to former volleyball players P.V. Raman and P. Vijaya on 5 July 1995. Raman has also received the prestigious Arjuna Award of the Government of India in the year 2000 for his remarkable work in the game of volleyball. Her parents were professional volleyball players, but PV Sindhu got influenced by All England Open badminton, Pullela Gopichand in 2001, and chose badminton as her career and started playing badminton at the age of just eight.
Sindhu first learned the basics of badminton under the guidance of Mehboob Ali at the Indian Railway Signal Engineering and Telecommunications Badminton Court in Secunderabad. She then joined Pullela Gopichand's Gopichand Badminton Academy. Later on, she passed the intermediate examination from Mehdipatnam.
PV Sindhu career:
At the international circuit, Sindhu has been a bronze medalist at the 2009 Sub Junior Asian Badminton Championships held in Colombo.
Sindhu represented India at the 2016 Summer Olympic Games held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and became the first Indian woman to reach the final of the women's singles event. In the final, she faced the world-famous Carolina Marin from Spain. Sindhu won the first game 21–19 but Marin won the second game 21–12, due to which the match went on till the third game. In the third game, she fought with a score of (21-15) but in the end, won the silver medal.
According to Google, in 2016 Sindhu became the most searched Indian player after defeating world number six Nozomi Okuhara in the semi-finals of women's singles badminton.
