Switch Double-Decker Electric Bus | Vehicles of tomorrow

In August 2022, Switch Mobility Ltd announced and launched India's first double-decker electric bus, the Switch EiV 22. According to the company's announcement, the updated version of the legendary double-decker bus will redefine public transportation in the nation and establish new benchmarks for the intra-city bus market. Switch EiV 22 Specifications

Based on the single-deck EiV 12 model, the Switch EiV 22 is a double-deck AC bus. The EiV 22 will have a total sitting capacity of 65 passengers due to its low floor design, with greater room on the lower deck for standing passengers. The bus's range is maintained compared to its single-deck counterpart because its weight has only increased by 18% overall despite having more seats.

 

A 231 kWh Nickel Cobalt Manganese (NMC) battery pack is used by the double-decker bus, giving it a 250 Km range on a single charge. The heavy-duty battery cells for the electric bus are imported from China, according to Mahesh Babu, CEO of Switch Mobility, and are transformed into usable battery packs for the bus at its production site in Ennore, Tamil Nadu.
