Tata Motors has launched the Tiago EV in the Indian market which takes an indirect aim at the petrol-powered hatchback segment. The biggest competitor of Tiago EV in the Indian market would be the Maruti Suzuki Swift. Let’s compare the two cars and see which is better.
Two battery packs, rated at 19.2 kWh and 24 kWh, respectively, with stated ranges of 250 km and 315 km, power it. While the latter generates 74 bhp/114 Nm, the former generates 60 bhp/110 Nm. Depending on the version, the Tiago EV comes with either a 3.3kW or 7.2kW home charger. It can be charged from 10% to 80% using DC fast charging in 57 minutes, according to claims.
The K12 series Dual Jet Dual VVT engine with idle start-stop feature powers the Swift. It has a five-speed manual transmission or a five-speed automated manual transmission and produces 89 horsepower and 113 Nm of torque. With the AMT gearbox, this 1.2-liter engine will now achieve fuel economy ratings of 23.20 kmpl in manual transmission and 23.76 kmpl in automatic transmission.
