Weather Update Today: The recent rainfall has once again provided relief from the extreme hot weather prevailing in many parts of the country, particularly in the northern regions. However, the rains accompanied by severe dust storms and strong winds also wreaked havoc in many areas, including Delhi-NCR. Waterlogging on roads, heavy traffic jams, uprooted trees, infrastructure loss were some of the problems faced by citizens due to rainfall and thunderstorms. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has further issued a red alert in many southern states. There is also a possibility of heavy rain and thunderstorms in the national capital and its surrounding areas.

Rain Alert in Delhi-NCR

The weather department has issued a heavy rain alert along with thunderstorms and strong winds this week. As the month of May started, the weather has been constantly fluctuating, with sudden increase and decrease in temperatures. On some days, the scorching heat troubled citizens, while recent rains provided relief from the heat but also caused massive destruction in many areas. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for Delhi. The national capital will likely remain partly cloudy on Monday, with light rain, thunder, and strong winds expected. The maximum temperature on Monday is forecast to be approximately 35 degrees Celsius, with a minimum temperature of around 24 degrees Celsius. On Monday morning, Delhi's air quality improved to ’satisfactory’.

Weather in UP-Bihar

The Meteorological Department predicts a significant change in weather in Uttar Pradesh, with storms and rain in numerous regions.  Rain will make for lovely weather in certain areas.  Dark cloud movement will resume in the UP over the next 48 to 72 hours. Rain may fall in Gorakhpur, Deoria, Kushinagar, Maharajganj, Sant Kabir Nagar, Siddharth Nagar, Basti, Balrampur, Gonda, Shravasti, Bahraich, Sitapur, Lakhimpur Kheri, Pilibhit, Bareilly, Rampur, Moradabad, Bijnor, Muzaffarnagar, Shamli, and Saharanpur. There is also the risk of rain in certain districts on May 27, 28, and 29.

Meanwhile, the monsoon has become active in Bihar, and its effects are abundantly obvious.  On Sunday, rain was recorded in various districts, including Gaya and Bhagalpur, providing relief from the heat. According to the Meteorological Department, an orange rain alert has been issued in 20 districts of Bihar, and a yellow Alert in 18 districts today. 

Rain Alert in Mumbai, Kerala, Bengaluru

Following heavy rains, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued red alerts in several Maharashtra districts, including Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, and Ratnagiri.  Airlines such as Air India, SpiceJet, and Indigo have issued travel advisories to passengers, warning that gusty winds, thundersqualls, and lightning may interrupt operations.  Northern states like as Bihar, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh are under orange warning.
