Weather Update Today: As the month of May is about to end, the weather has taken a drastic turn as heavy rains and thunderstorms have been constantly disrupting the daily life of citizens. Furthermore, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for heavy rainfall in south India, as a result of early monsoon. Breaking all the previous years’ records, the reason behind the early arrival of monsoon is due to a combination of favourable meteorological and oceanic conditions. According to the IMD, a low-pressure area formed over the Arabian Sea, with a trough stretching into Vidarbha. These systems considerably increased moisture influx and atmospheric convection, hastening the monsoon's march across the Indian subcontinent.
This early arrival marked significant changes in the weather pattern of different states, also affecting the northern region including the national capital. Check the latest weather forecast in each state.
