Tushar Deshpande Biography: The ‘First Impact’ Player in IPL History to Make His Debut in Ind Vs Zim T20 Series, Know Stats, Career, and More

Ind Vs Zim T20 2024: After the T20 World Cup triumph, Team India is all set for its Zimbabwe tour for the T20I Series starting from 6th July. The spirit is high, the determination is supreme, and with young talents taking over the Harare Sports Complex, Shubman Gill will be leading the team as the captain, and former cricketer VVS Laxman will be the stand-in head coach during the five-match series. The first match is scheduled for 6th July, Saturday, and the fifth and final match will take place on 14th July, Sunday. Many promising talents who have displayed tremendous potential in the IPL 2024 have been selected to play against Zimbabwe, and the entire squad has arrived in Harare. 

Out of the new Indian squad, talents like Abhishek Sharma, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ravi Bishnoi, Khleel Ahmed, and Riyan Parag among others are included in the team. Tushar Deshpande, one such talent has also secured a position in the team. The right arm bowler has been playing for Chennai Super Kings since 2022. Early Life & Cricket Career

Tushar Deshpande was born on May 15, 1995, in Kalyan, Mumbai. His father's name is Uday Deshpande, and his mother, Vandana Deshpande, is a housewife. Along with his studies, he started teaching cricket and used to travel every day from Kalyan to Shivaji Park Gymkhana to practice and train before joining the Mumbai U-16 and U-19 teams. The cricket academy has given rise to several outstanding cricketers, including Sachin Tendulkar and Sunil Gavaskar. He would travel for several hours to practice at Shivaji Park Gymkhana. 

When Tushar was traveling to play in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy Super League in 2019, his mother, who had been diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2017, passed away from the disease. He took 4 wickets off 19 runs during the game and dedicated his win to his mother.

Early Cricket Career

Tushar used to train at Shivaji Park Gymkhana Cricket Academy and began playing cricket for the Mumbai U-16 and U-19 teams. In 2016, Tushar started playing first-class cricket with her stateside team. On October 6, 2016, he made his Ranji Trophy debut for the Mumbai Team. The Mumbai team management has utilized him as a strike bowler in all formats. 

On September 19, 2018, he made his List A debut with the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Deshpande had already established himself as a formidable force in domestic cricket, with outstanding performances in the Ranji Trophy and the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He continued his strong performance into his List A debut against Punjab, taking three wickets for 29 runs in ten overs. On October 14, 2018, he took his first five-wicket haul in List A cricket during the tournament's quarterfinals. The following month, he was named one of eight players to watch ahead of the 2018-19 Ranji Trophy season.

Tushar Deshpande IPL Debut

He was added to the India Blue squad for the 2019–20 Duleep Trophy in August 2019. Tushar Deshpande debuted in the Indian Premier League in 2020 with the Delhi Capitals team. Before being released, he spent two years as a player for the Delhi Capitals. He was then purchased by the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in February 2022 during the Indian Premier League 2022 auction, and he is presently a player for CSK. He became the first Impact Player in the IPL history.

Tushar married his school crush Nabha Gadamwar in Kalyan in December 2023 after dating for a long time. Nabha is an artist and fashion designer.
