UP Electricity Bill Rate: Uttar Pradesh has passed a bill allowing for varied electricity pricing during the day and at night. However, it will take two years to apply this law after the work to install smart meters in the state is completed. The tariff based on day and night has been temporarily postponed. The power agency had planned to charge higher electricity costs at night than during the day, but this has been prevented. The arbitrary purchase of electricity will also be prohibited.

Higher Electricity Bill Rates

According to Power Corporation officials, the law allowing for different electricity pricing throughout the day and night would be implemented gradually. The first phase will focus on large cities. After that, the system will be introduced in small cities and towns. Finally, it will be applied throughout the villages. To reduce losses, the Power Corporation insists on charging higher electricity rates at night than during the day.
