Why was ‘Laapataa Ladies’ Selected As India’s Official Entry At Oscars 2025? Know Reason inside

Laapataa Ladies: Kiran Rao made her directorial debut with ‘Laapataa Ladies’ starring Nitanshi Goel, Sparsh Shrivastav and Pratibha Ranta. The film was loved by a large-scale audience in theaters and was further received with applause after its digital release. Now, the film has been selected by the Film Federation as India’s official entry into the Oscars 2025. But why Laapataa Ladies?   

Reason for Laapataa Ladies’ selection 

The Film Federation of India chose Kiran Rao’s film out of a lot of great Indian films including Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal and Cannes winner ‘All We Imagined As Light’. As many wondered about this film, the federation revealed that they looked for a movie that represents the values of India in most honesty to be the official entry at the Oscars, and ‘Lost Ladies’ did so. 

The cast and crew of the film are elated about their nominations as they all took to their social media to share gratitude.
