Oscars 2025: Kiran Rao’s Directorial ‘Laapataa Ladies’ Becomes India’s Official Entry For The Academy Awards

Laapataa Ladies:  Kiran Rao debuted in direction with a sweet satire on the claws of patriarchy and its many branches. ‘Laapataa Ladies’ starring Nitanshi Goel, Sparsh Srivastav, and Pratibha Ranta has now become India’s official entry in the Oscars out of the 12 films competing for the same including Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s ‘Animal’. 

Enters Best Foreign Film Category 

The Film Federation of India chose the film on Monday for India’s official entry in the Best Foreign Film Category for the Academy Awards 2025. Kiran Rao expresses her gratitude: "I am deeply honored and delighted that our film Laapataa Ladies has been chosen as India's official entry to the Academy Awards…Cinema has always been a powerful medium to connect hearts, transcend boundaries, and ignite meaningful conversations.
