Anurag Kashyap Phule Row:  Anurag Kashyap has been a part of a recent controversy for his derogatory remarks on the Brahmin community. He later issued a lengthy note of apology for his words, and its reception in a lack of context, but the “morality trolls” of the country were quick to target not him but his daughter, Aaliyah Kashyap. 

Death and rape threats flooded the social media profile of Aaliyah Kashyap who herself is a public figure with an open Instagram account. But this was not the first time that the actions of a man have led to challenges for a woman associated with them. Why does our society so conveniently get away with shifting the blame or actually targeting women with deadly threats? The incident begs the question.
