Kailash Kher is one of the most renowned singers of Indian Film Industry. He won many accolades for his playback singing and composition. But the success was never served in a silver spoon. In this exclusive interview with Her Zindagi, Kailash Kher gets candid and shares his success story and ups and downs of his life.
Born on July 7 July 1973 Kailash was born in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh in a Kashmiri Family. His father Mehar Singh Kher was a traditional folk singer and Kher got his prowess in music from his genes. Hestarted his training for music in his childhood and was always driven to the folk songs as his father was a renowned singer. This is also the reason that his singing style is always influenced by Indian folk music and Sufi music.
Apart from his father, Kailash also trails his inspiration from classical musicians Pandit Kumar Gandharva, Pandit Hridaynath Mangeshkar, Pandit Bhimsen Joshi, and the Qawwali singer Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.
Singer Kailash Kher was conferred with Padma Shri which is the fourth-highest civilian award of the Republic of India, after the Bharat Ratna, the Padma Vibhushan and the Padma Bhushan.
Apart from Padma Shri Kher was also bestowed with the two Filmfare Awards for Best Male Playback Singer: one for the Hindi film Fanaa (2006) and one for the Telugu film Mirchi (2013), along with several other nominations.
