Indian Politician Lieutenant Sachin Rajesh Pilot is a member of the Congress party and is a Member of the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly from the constituency of Tonk. He Assumed the office after winning his seat in the 2018 assembly elections of the state. The pilot was also the Deputy Chief Minister of Rajasthan but left his position after his revolt against the party and its leadership. He also left the office of President of the Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee for the same reason. Meanwhile, he also served as the Minister of Corporate Affairs in the second ministry of the Manmohan Singh Government.

Born on September 7, 1977, Sachin was born in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, India. He belongs to a Hindu family and has his ancestral lineage from the village in Vaidpura in Noida Uttar Pradesh. Pilot is the son of late Congress leader and former Vaidpura in Noida Uttar Pradesh, Rajesh Pilot and his wife Rama Pilot.
On January 15, 2004, Sachin Pilot tied the knot with Sara Abdullah. Pilot’s father-in-Law and Sara’s father Farooq Abdullah is chairman of Jammu & Kashmir National Conference and ex-Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir. Sachin Pilot and Sara have two sons Aaran and Vehaan.
The 43-year-old politician has completed his schooling from Air Force Bal Bharati School, New Delhi, and graduated with Bachelors in Arts from St. Stephens College, University of Delhi He also holds a diploma in marketing from I.M.T. Ghaziabad and pursued an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, USA.
Sachin also worked as an employee for the Delhi Bureau of the British Broadcasting Corporation and later with American multinational corporation General Motors for two years.
Completing his desire to follow his father's footsteps to be in the armed forces, Sachin Pilot was commissioned as an officer in the Indian Territorial Army in the year 2012, on September 6. He was the first-ever Union minister to get the defence rank during political tenure. Sachin got the rank of Lieutenant Pilot as he served as an officer in the Territorial Army (India).
When Sachin got commissioned in the army he quoted that, “This has been my desire to join the army for very long as I wanted to have my links with the armed forces, like my father and grandfather. I am honoured to be part of this family.”
Sachin Pilot became the youngest member of parliament in the year 2004 when he was elected from the seat of Dausa constituencies of Rajasthan in 2004. He became a member of the Indian Parliament for the Ajmer in 2009 at the young age of 26 years. However, in the year 2014, Pilot lost the Lok Sabha election from Ajmer constituency to Bharatiya Janata Party's sitting MLA Sanwarlal Jat by a margin of 1,71,983 votes.

The pilot again fought in the 2018 Legislative Assembly elections from the Tonk seat and won the elections by a margin of 54,179 votes defeating Yunus Khan. After his big win in the Rajasthan state, many speculations surfaced regarding him being given the post of Chief Minister of Rajasthan. However the Congress party decided on making Ashok Gehlot the CM of the state and on December 17, 2018, Pilot was sworn in as Deputy Chief Minister of Rajasthan.
In the year 2020, on July 13, Sachin Pilot’s office issued a statement defining that the present government of Rajasthan under chief minister Ashok Gehlot was in a minority. However, an assistant of Pilot specified that he will not join the opposition party i.e Bharatiya Janata Party.
Following the chain of events and Sachins revolt against the party, on July 14, 2020, The Indian National Congress dismissed the office of Sachin Pilot as the Deputy Chief Minister and Rajasthan Congress President.
On 14 July 2020 itself, a notice was also issued by The Rajasthan Speaker, C.P. Joshi to 19 dissident Congress MLAs including Sachin Pilot as Rajasthan Congress passed a resolution that they will be disqualified from the state Assembly since they have defied a party whip to attend two Congress Legislature Party meetings.
On 17 July 2020 Pilot challenged this notice in the Rajasthan High Court the High Court asked the Speaker to defer action on disqualification notices till 21 July 2020.
