Tamil Nadu News: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has encouraged the Chief Ministers of non-BJP-ruled states to oppose the President’s questions before the Supreme Court over the time limit for the President and Governor on laws. He has also argued for a comprehensive legal approach. Stalin stated that it is generally recognised that the Supreme Court's advisory jurisdiction cannot be requested or used when the relevant case has already been resolved by the court's official ruling.
Stalin wrote to the chief ministers of Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Jammu and Kashmir, Kerala, Karnataka, Telangana, Punjab, and West Bengal. Stalin claimed that the BJP-led federal government exploits governors to impede the operation of non-BJP-ruled states. He listed difficulties such as undue delays in bill approval, withholding approval without valid constitutional reasons, obstructing general files and government directives, interfering with appointments to crucial positions, and politicising educational institutions like university chancellors.
