On August 23, 2023, India's Chandrayaan 3 spacecraft performed a soft landing at the south pole region of the moon, making India the first country in the world to do so. Chandrayaan-3 was launched on July 14 using ISRO's LMV3 rocket, with the goal of demonstrating soft landing and roving capability on the lunar surface. This mission cost Rs 650 crore.
ISRO is now focusing on the sun after conquering the moon. Let us inform you about the wonders that ISRO will perform in the coming years. ISRO's next mission, Aditya L-1, will study the Sun. This will be India's first expedition to study the Sun. The spacecraft will be positioned in a hollow orbit around Lagrange point-1 (L-1) around 1.5 million kilometres from Earth. L-1 point is a location where there is no eclipse effect and we can view the sun continually.
This will allow for real-time observation of solar activity and its impact on space weather. The spacecraft will carry seven payloads to observe the Sun's various layers.
